Busy Summer... (posted by mom)
Kieran has had a very busy Summer! He started with day camp at Springbrook nature center the first week of vacation, he loved it completely and had a lot of fun learning about nature. On the 20th of June Kieran turned 6, we celebrated that day with lunch at McDonald's with Ethan, since he spent the days with is that week. Kieran had art classes the 20th-24th at Webber Park, he did a lot of really nice original art, and really enjoyed his time there. Kieran's party was on the 25th, he had a lot of his friends and family over and he got way too many presents, it was a wonderful warm sunny day, and we all had fun. We started July by visiting Sophia and Jordan and Jenn in Iowa for July 4th weekend. He was a big helper in the car with Moira and had a lot of fun with Sophia. We went to the Coralville waterpark thingy with a waterslide and big pool, a great big parade in the rain where he got lots of candy and water and freezy pops. We went to the mall and park, and Jordan did a lot of bbq, and of course we watched fireworks and swam in the pool at grandma and grandpa"s hotel. It was a great weekend! Friday the 8th we went to the children's museum which is always wonderful and exciting, we spent the entire day there packed a lunch and went to jimmy johns for dinner and went back to the museum, it was my favorite day so far this summer! The next day, Kieran went to Menahga for mid-summer days and to see his great-grandparents with grandma and grandpa Stomberg. When he got home from Menahga, he learned that his very-much loved hamster Harold died on Saturday night of old age, he was understandably very sad, and we burried him in grandma and grandpa Stomberg's back yard. Grandma Copeland took Kieran on the 11th to the pet store, and he picked out a new baby hamster and named him Thomas, he is very cute, but, a week later he escaped and was missing for four days!!! We trapped him in a bucket y putting food in it and ramps to the top of the bucket so he got stuck, somehow that crazy animal got in our basement! We went to the Eagles Nest the 13th with Shannon and Noah and Moira, that was a really wonderful day, he even got to spend some time in the toddler only area playing carnival with me because there were no other toddlers in there besides Moira and Noah! The next week started his next nature class at the park, this one he thinks is sort of boring, nothing can compete with Springbrook I guess! July 27th was his first Art class at Folwell park, he was really excited because he got to use the computer, and no one else did! We all went to the Crystal carnival on the 29th and Kieran went on quite a few rides, I had the lucky job of going on the tilt-a-whirl with him, my stomach is still turning! On the 30th, we went to Camp Snoopy to get out of the heat and use a good coupon for rides, it was another wonderful day, and Kieran and I went on the rollercoaster three times, he went on about 100 other rides on his own and had a great time! On August 1st Kieran had his 6 year check-up, he is healthy and growing great he is exactly 50% for height and weight, he is 46" tall and 47lbs, still almost completely a square! He was very brave giving blood for a lead level check, he said it didn't even hurt! What a big kid! On the 2nd we went to Southdale and built a bear at the build-a-bear workshop, his name is Cool Teddy, and Kieran put a very warm, kind heart into him and had him stuffed very soft. It is a wonderful bear! That's it so far this Summer, it has been fun, he is anxiously waiting our mini-vacation to Duluth where he gets to meet Thomas the tank engine and Sir Topham Hat at the Depot on Sunday, it should be great.
